McGill Graduate student Teaching Assistant Required for SWRK 428 Social Policy & Administration for the Fall 2022 Term.

Demonstrated knowledge of the following areas is required:

  • The impact of policies and organizational structures on service users and social workers.
  • The connection between social work theory and research, governmental and institutional policy and direct practice.
  • Relationship between social location and social policy.
  • How social policies define, confine and shape practice and the ways in which social ideology, discourse and oppression intersect to shape practice at societal, institutional and individual levels.
  • The impact of social policies and programs on the lives of people and the role of social workers in these arenas.
  • Issues of access and equity in human services.
  • Link between socio-political and policy analysis to organizational governance and social work practice.
  • Strategies for developing thoughtful and critical practice including those related to individual and systemic change, and communication and understanding in worker-client relationships.
  • The development and implementation of social policies.
  • Special topics including homelessness, aging, health, child welfare, poverty, housing, multiculturalism policy, and refugee and immigration policy.

Hourly Salary: $33.03
